The Journey of Eddie Dovner: Vision, Grit, and Scale
Eddie Dovner’s career is defined by a singular ethos: hard work, multiplied. As a serial entrepreneur who has scaled businesses across insurance, tactical defense, aviation, and philanthropy, Eddie brings a lifetime of operational expertise to his leadership at Lockwood Energy Group, driving the next generation of energy infrastructure.
Roots in the Soil: The 5:00 AM Foundations
Eddie’s entrepreneurial DNA wasn’t formed in a boardroom; it was forged in the dirt of a dairy farm in Massachusetts. Long before he was managing hundreds of employees, he was getting up at 5:00 AM to milk cows, returning at 4:00 PM to do it again, and spending summers bailing hay.
Recognizing early on that traditional schooling wasn’t his path, Eddie entered a work-study program in high school. The farm taught him a lesson that would define his entire life: success is a lagging indicator of relentless commitment.
The Master Salesman & The Recession-Proof Pivot
By age 25, Eddie had channeled his tireless work ethic into the corporate world, rapidly rising to become the #1 sales executive for Metropolitan Life Insurance across Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont. He earned the prestigious Leader’s Conference award and became a frequent keynote speaker at company events.
But Eddie was never meant to work for someone else. Craving autonomy, he scanned the Wall Street Journal for a recession-proof industry and pivoted into the coffee business. After successfully building the enterprise from scratch, he sold the company to his brother. It was during this era that Eddie also established his father in the automotive industry, successfully retiring his father.
Scaling to $100M: Saving Lives at a Global Scale
With just $10,000 in capital and a vision to protect those on the front lines, Eddie founded a tactical body armor company. He grew the business into a manufacturing powerhouse with over 200 employees, eventually scaling it to a $100 million exit.
Eddie’s defense firm wasn’t just a financial triumph; it was a logistical marvel. When tasked with a massive government contract to deliver hundreds of thousands of units in a tight three-month window, Eddie built a dedicated factory to bake the ceramics and manufacture every component in-house.
Through 13 years in this venture, Eddie interacted with major domestic and international agencies, saved hundreds of lives, and forged deep bonds with law enforcement. His contributions to officer safety earned him formal commendations from metropolitan police leadership and lasting relationships with state law enforcement agencies.
Aviation, Philanthropy, and a Deep Commitment to Veterans
Following his exit in the defense sector, Eddie entered the private aviation, real estate, and hospitality markets.
As his financial success multiplied, so did his commitment to giving back. Deeply moved by the sacrifices of American soldiers, Eddie became a major champion for giving back to veterans. He has personally invested over $1 million into veteran care and spearheaded high-profile fundraisers across Palm Beach and Boca Raton to ensure those coming home receive the services they deserve.
