"Who dares to teach must never cease to learn."
-John Cotton Dana
I am an emerging museum professional and graduate student at the Cooperstown Graduate Program for History Museum Studies at the State University of New York at Oneonta. I am a New York State Certified Adolescent Education Social Studies Teacher.
I would like to be a Museum Educator in a history or art museum. I am passionate about making informal educational experiences accessible to audiences of diverse backgrounds. I enjoy learning about how local communities are changed by historical events in the past and making connections to issues in society today. I believe museums can do more to make history and art more accessible and inclusive to a broader audience.
I want to pursue a career that gives me opportunities to make a difference in our local communities, nation, and world. I strive to encourage individuals to learn about history and make personal connections to the world around them.
I believe museums need to do more to incorporate personal stories and opportunities for dialogue in our educational programs, exhibits, and mission, to focus on issues that affect us all, and bring people from diverse backgrounds together.
I enjoy networking, reading, tutoring, mentoring, and studying history.
