Many of the reasons I want to be a teacher stem from my own life experiences that have changed me and molded me into the person I am today. I have taught both here in the states as well as over seas. Among my students have been some of the richest of the rich and poorest of the poor. Teachers have the power to change lives. I know how important it is to have positive mentors to help inspire and challenge our youth, to help them dream big and put those dreams into action. A strong education brings change and growth, it can be empowering and mobilizing. I love sharing ideas and concepts and watching as my students start to comprehend and then expand or start to reform it. I saw this first hand when I was teaching in Bangladesh, one of my lessons on healthcare turned into a collaboration with a local medical school so we could provide free health care to a local orphanage. Once again this is putting thoughts and ideas into action. I spent a few years working as a social worker were it was my job to help my clients manage their lives. This experience made me realize that I would much rather be in a position were I can be a part of setting the ground work and sharing the tools and skills needed to help create a good foundation.

I want to be able to be an agent of change in the lives of my students by showing them that there are positive mentors to look up to and learn from. I love the process of learning and sharing ideas and seeing what you can do with those ideas in a way that is tangible. I want to be part of the process to create a sound foundation where my students can fined the tools the need and build skills, education is power.
