Teacher in Temecula, Ca
Husband | Papi | Educator | Son of California | Exploring topics in US History with 8th grade students | Advocating and bargaining for teachers of Temecula Valley Educators Association
In 2004 I joined the TVUSD family from Northern California. I was fortunate enough to work with fourth grade students and staff at Vail Elementary for 8 years, before undergoing an involuntary transfer to Gardner Middle. Now I work with an equally passionate group of educators and students who inspire me to do the best I can in the classroom.
I became a site leader in 2005 at Vail Elementary as a small way to give back to the organization. Since then, I look to include a diverse group of members, foster leadership opportunities for members at the site and organizational level, and advocate for all membership.
In the spring of 2007, I was entrusted the responsibility of Chair of the Bargaining Committee. I was charged with maintanance of the TVEA/TVUSD contract through a difficult financial time in California's history. There were no easy choices, and only tougher decisions.
Through the next 10 years the contract expanded to include weekly prep time at the elementary level, case management for case carriers, expansion of leave to include 10 personal business days, and creation of the TVEA/TVUSD Budget Ad-hoc Committee.
In 2009, TVEA members entrusted me with the position of Vice President. This enabled me to recruit individuals, expand organizational capacity, and seek opportunities for members to work in parity with TVUSD administration at different levels.
Now as a social science teacher at Gardner Middle School, I continue to participate in district level committees to add the teacher experience to increasing demands on the instructional day.
Over the last few years, I have assisted TVEA evolve into an organization that can withstand the legal requirements and financial stress of a labor organization and protect student learning and member rights.
Thank you for taking time from your busy day to learn about me, and I would appreciate your trust in this election week.
If you can, share this page, so other members may learn about my candidacy for TVEA President.
