Edith Valentin
With more than 10 years as a human resources professional, Edith Valentin recently joined Shred-it, filling the position of Director of Human Resources-US. Edith Valentin leverages skills gained through expanded educational opportunities and years working with top-notch global corporations.
Laying the groundwork for her career, Edith Valentin earned an undergraduate degree from Manhattan College in New York. She entered the workforce as an Expatriate Assistant for Parsons Brinckerhoff in 1999, coordinating HR support for some 200 expatriates in 5 countries. Following that role, she accepted the combined position of Immigration Specialist and HR Generalist for the privately held Bloomberg L.P. In this position, as well, she focused her efforts on managing expatriate and immigration processes, with support from legal counsel and management to ensure the acquisition of proper U.S. work visas and adherence to immigration laws. She also facilitated training for employees and managers on relocation procedures and other relevant matters.
In 2005, Edith Valentin left Bloomberg to join Williams Lea Inc. as Human Resource Generalist for the global business process outsourcing firm. She later received an opportunity to work with Grey Group and accepted a position with one of the world’s largest advertising firms as HR Manager. By late 2006, Edith Valentin took her skills to Pitney Bowes Inc., where she was named Director of Human Resources for the leading outsourcing firm. She reported to the Vice President of HR for Pitney Bowes Management Services.
In her role with document destruction company Shred-it, Edith Valentin holds responsibility for recruitment and retention of employees, organizational development, and career and performance management as well as financial compensation. She is also charged with developing and leading a team of HR business partners.
An avid traveler, Edith Valentin has ventured to most major U.S. cities and the Caribbean Islands. Her activities include zip-lining in Mexico and New England and skydiving at Skydive The Ranch in Gardiner, New York. She also enjoys street biking. A socially conscious individual, she contributes to the March of Dimes Foundation and to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
