As an appreciator of the finer points of language, I still find that editorial thrill of the markup, a great catch of a missing word, a well-placed author query asking for clarification. With a red pen on hard copy or in pdf or Word on the screen -- whatever the medium for the edit -- it's a job I've done in one form or another for more than 20 years now. . . . Editor, copyeditor, proofreader, fact-checker, in both full-time/on-site and freelance capacities -- my rewording job!
