Edna Gerrity

Born and raised in the United States, Edna Gerrity takes every opportunity to learn about different places and people. An avid traveler, she visits countries that offer new experiences, insights, and customs. Most notably, Edna Gerrity journeys frequently to Asia, a continent she admires for its eclectic cultures and cuisines. Edna Gerrity cites the serenity and wisdom of the Asian people as her two favorite traits of the diverse continent's inhabitants. In particular, Edna appreciates Asia’s extensive history of cultural influence, as exemplified by Bengali writer and poet Rabindranath Tagore’s having received Asia's first Nobel Prize in 1913. Tagore won the Nobel Prize in Literature due to the impact his writings had on European and American literature and schools of thought. Many other notable writers, altruists, and scholars hail from Asia. The philanthropist Mother Teresa, who spent the entirety of her adult life in India, received the Nobel Peace Prize for her advocacy of and work toward human rights. Edna Gerrity also holds the Dalai Lama in high esteem. Equal amounts spiritualist, activist, and politician, the Dalai Lama has humbly accepted approximately 84 awards during his life including a Nobel Prize for his humanitarian work. During her trips to Asia, Edna Gerrity partakes in both new and time-tested Asian cuisines. She appreciates the many different types of food available in Asia, since each variety comes from different peoples and practices. Some of Edna Gerrity's favorite dishes include chicken tikka, made with boneless chicken skewers marinated in yogurt and spices, and chelow kabab, a meal consisting of rice and any one of the infinite varieties of cooked meats known in India as kabab. Edna Gerrity looks forward to her next journey to Asia with great enthusiasm, anticipating meeting new friends and enjoying delicious delicacies.
