Ed Nair is a writer, researcher, and speaker on business technology, global sourcing, globalization, and global business. He is the Editor-at-large with Dataquest and Global Services, websites that cover the Indian IT and the global outsourcing industry respectively. With over twenty five years in technology research and technology media, Ed has deep expertise in enterprise IT, IT services and BPO, business transformation, innovation in service models, and marketing. Ed was a senior analyst with IDC India before he moved into handling senior editorial and business roles with Cyber Media. He won the Polestar Award for Best IT Journalist in India in 1998.
Ed has been tracking the global outsourcing industry since the early nineties when he was part of the World Bank-funded study for the Department of Electronics, Govt. of India on software exports. His direct exposure to the outsourcing industry includes a) projects at Tibco Software, Palo Alto, where he worked hands-on at offshoring global marketing operations and b) advising First American Corporation, Phoenix, on managing organizational change in large-scale outsourcing engagements.
Ed is very well-networked with senior tech and business executives at Fortune100 companies in the US. He also collaborates with B-schools (Duke- Fuqua, Univ. of Maryland-Smith, and Thunderbird) in the US on various research assignments related to technology and global sourcing. Ed has a degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from Thunderbird School for Global Management, Arizona.
