Eudald Domènech
Entrepreneur and visionary, Eudald Domènech began his professional career in entertainment, radio and advertising. He moved into the emerging TMT sector in 1993, when he started Servicom, the first Spanish ISP to establish a point-to-point commercial Internet service between the United States and Spain. Domènech is considered by the sector as the first Internet businessman in Spain. In spring 1995, together with Nina Brink, he created the ISP World Online, structured as franchisee of Servicom in Holland, in join venture with NS, the Dutch railroad company. In order to expand beyond the limitations of Internet connectivity provider, in December of 1995, he sold Servicom and broadened his focus towards the creation and commercialization of content for the Web. With this objective in mind he founded Telepolis. As Telepolis expanded it attracted investment from diverse editorial and financial groups, including Anaya, Endemol and Bankinter. In August 2000, Domènech signed an agreement to merge with Eresmas Interactive S.A, now Orange (France Telecom). Once the integration of Telepolis with Eresmas was complete, he left his executive positions in the group to serve as external consultant, responsible for the development of new businesses beyond the sphere of Telepolis. In this capacity, he created Techfoundries (TMT) and Agrotech (Clean Tech) and accepted the responsibilities of CEO. Eudald Domènech is a frequent speaker at the most prestigious forums in the sector and business schools and co-author of the book “Business 3.0, Myths and Realities in Internet and the new economy” (2002) published by Ediciones B, a series of anecdotes, experiences, errors and situations which explain the reality of Internet in a pedagogical way.
