Ed Sappin currently serves as the CFO of Northwest Innovation Works (NWIW), a multi-national partnership committed to meeting a global need for cleaner methanol production sources. He is also the founder of Sappin Global Strategies (SGS), a New York based firm that invests in and advises groups in energy and global innovation. Directly and through The Willowbrook Company, the company is developing and financing over $500 million of renewable power projects focused on strong financial, environmental and social returns.
Ed Sappin is a frequent media contributor and has been featured by the Washington Post, Wired, CNBC, and Roll Call.
Prior to SGS, Sappin was Director, Project Development for the solar division of BP. He led teams in the US and Asia Pacific on over $2 billion of power projects. He also worked closely with the founders and ran the investment team at New Asia Partners, a middle market private equity group based in Shanghai.
Ed holds a Master of Arts from the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University, where he was a Boren and Bradley Fellow. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Franklin, Wharton and Fine Scholar.
