Ted Lu is Founder of Blackfield Capital Management, a private wealth management firm providing financial planning, investment management, and estate planning services. Ted has 27 years of experience spanning finance and investing, operations of mature businesses, and startups. As the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Blackfield Capital Management, his areas of concentration include investment management, portfolio construction, and alternative investments. Further, Ted brings to bear valuable resources for the benefit of his clients. These resources include lending & mortgages, trust and estate planning, sophisticated financial plans, and a network of vetted third party service providers including accountants, lawyers, and M&A advisors.

Ted began his career at Morgan Stanley in the Investment Banking Division in New York. Subsequently, he worked at The Carlyle Group as a private equity investor, at Atalaya as a private credit investor, and at AllianceBernstein, where he invested across the capital structure and across industries. Early in his career, he was co-founder of Cogent Communications (NASDAQ: CCOI). Ted’s institutional investing experience at premiere firms differentiates Ted as a private wealth advisor.

Ted earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley with a major in Economics. He is a former Muay Thai fighter and boxer, and currently resides in Rockville, Maryland with his wife and two young daughters.
