Ed Milde
Houston, Texas
Originally, I was supposed to be named Ernest Richard Milde IV. I was to be the fourth in a long line of Ernies, but somewhere along the line my mother wouldn't have it and she insisted I be named Edward. I like the name, but in the end I really landed on Ed, and that is what I go by. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I know you are thinking it, and no, I am not a hipster. I don't wear thick rimmed glasses, or tight jeans, but I do have an affinity for plaid shirts.
Naturally, being from New York City, I majored in geology as an undergrad and spent the next 7 years of my life outside in the mud and rain looking at rocks. I loved it so much, that after a brief stint of working on drill rigs in California, I returned to school to pursue my masters in earth science. I ended up writing a thesis that uncovered a very specific aspect of Southeastern Alaskan tectonics entitled, "Using Low-Temperature Thermochronology to Constrain the Role of the Totschunda Fault in Southeastern Alaskan Tectonics". Catchy, right? I am currently in the process of publishing my data.
Now I live in Houston, where I work as an exploration geologist helping to assist my team in the pursuit of new and exciting resource plays around the world. The next step in my career will be to pursue a masters of business administration. Why, you ask? Because I want to do something that I think will really benefit society. I want to learn how to be a bridge between the business world and the scientific community. Frankly, I want to do something other than just analyzing data. I want to tie all the concepts together, and I want to help businesses, corporations and employees make the right decisions when considering our natural resources.
A Brooklyn-born geologist makes his way to Houston, TX where he pursues his MBA. I like the way that reads.
