My work isn't so much a form of art and expression as much as it is a result of my urge to create and explain. Design, image, sculpture, theme and story; all of these and more, bring me the most satisfaction in life when done originally and creatively. Imagination to me is the most productive act of will one can undertake. The passion for me is not expression, but projection; not a message, but an idea.
Routine and discipline are key in my work. They ensure I can create the patterns I see and conjure, over and over. However at the same time, play and experimentation add the darwinistic approach to the development of my skills. I never do anything exactly the same twice, but I always pay attention to what works now and again, just a little bit better just by chance. I believe the potential of the individual is truly infinite, therefore I believe I can work towards any level of success in my work, given the time, focus and knowledge required.
Metal has long been one of my labours of love. My practise in it is almost entirely self taught before I had been taught the art of forging. Through trial and error, I reinvented the wheel over and over again, focusing on an origami-like sheet metal and found objectform of sculpture. learning everything the hard way taught me to excell in the easy ways. Coming into the endless well of technique that is blacksmithing, has literaly taken me from the second dimension of my craft, to the third.
