Edwin Pacheco Colón

I am going to be a senior as of Fall 2013 at the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez, where I major in Industrial Microbiology and I live in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. This summer I am working with the Animal Sciences department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the Summer Research Opportunity Program. I am currently working with different diets in the African Americans and Native Africans groups. It is hypothesized that high fat diets tend to have high population of B. wadsworthia in the colon, which leads to accumulation of sulfuric acid. I want to find out if there is a correlation between the population of B.wadsworthia in Inflammatory Bowel Disease patients for future treatments and preventions.
