EJ Yeoh

Penang, Malaysia

Hi, before I tell you more about myself, please go onto YouTube and play a really nice relaxing music. Or at least be in a good mood, you will like me more. Done? Great! Let's get started.

My name is EJ, and I am turning 23 in November of 2014. I was born and raised in Penang island, a beautiful island off the coast of Malaysia, where it's name is synonymous with mouth-watering food.

As mentioned in the section with the 'price-tag' icon below, I have always been fascinated by nature. I loved gardening, plants and animals. So naturally, I had many pets growing up, ranging from dogs and fish to spiders and ants, yes, I said ANTS.

Upon completing my college year in 2009, I received a scholarship to study in the University of Tasmania (UTAS) in Australia. During semesters, I worked as a server and a bartender in an Indian restaurant and a (gay) dance bar for the first half of my degree to cover my daily expenses (including EVERYTHING).

I was later chosen to be a Peer Assited Study Sessions (PASS) Leader at the university, where I planned and facilitated study sessions for students to assist them in developing both conceptual understanding and academic study skills relevant to their discipline. I also worked as a barista at a bakehouse over the weekends.

After spending 3 years in Tasmania, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science with majors in Zoology and Biochemistry. I was placed on the Dean's Roll of Excellence for 3 consecutive years and was awarded the Dean's Summer Research scholarship over the summer of 2012/13. I won the Royal Australian Chemical Insitute (RACI) Prize for Chemistry and Winifred Curtis Prize for Plant Science in 1st year for being at the top of my classes. I was also shortlisted as one of the Top 6 "Outstanding New Leader in Australasia" by the Leader Awards Australasian National Centre for PASS, and was subsequently sent to Melbourne to participate in the forum.

(it's getting late, I should sleep continue this tomorrow)
