Since 2012, Dr. Effie Greathouse has served as director at Digital Resources for Community and Science. She manages various projects, such as the MyAirSample.org website, which allows users to compare the chemical composition of air sampled in different communities with various health standards. Additionally, Dr. Effie Greathouse assists with coding for the Louisiana Bucket Brigade, one of the two collaborators of the air-sample project.

Dr. Effie Greathouse earned a PhD at the University of Georgia. She studied at the Institute of Ecology and wrote her dissertation on the effect of dams on tropical stream ecosystems in Puerto Rico. As a student, she received several fellowships and accolades for her teaching and research, including the North American Benthological Society President’s Award.

Dr. Effie Greathouse belongs to the Society for Freshwater Science and the Ecological Society of America. Along with her involvement with these organizations, she has participated in a variety of community outreach initiatives. In 2016, she canvassed neighborhoods in Oregon advocating for air quality.
