No Blue, No Green.

Sylvia Earle summed it up perfectly in this beautifully succinct phrase. Similarly, I have made it my mission to contribute towards radically reducing humanity's impact on this blue planet. Please read on to hear more about my journey!

In my fifth grade history class I first learned of human induced climate change, when I was tasked with debating whether Cape Wind, should be built to power the homes and businesses on the Cape with offshore wind. There was quite a lot of pushback to this project mostly by the more affluent townspeople as well as the local fisheries. I quickly learned that the majority of the information being purported by the opposed was not based in scientific fact. This bothered me as I repeatedly refuted the claims being reported by the local newspaper as well as my fellow classmates. Unfortunately this project did not come into fruition and burned quite a lot of money in the process.

Fast forward to college, where I began to merge my interest in technology with my passion for marine conservation. I began working on an upweller shellfishing project with my aquaculture professor, and an aquaponics project where I led our Engineers without Borders chapter to build a system that would grow vegetables in a closed loop system with fish. Undergrad was when I discovered that I needed to devote my time to fixing our broken system. My graduate work was when I learned to master it!

Studying Sustainable energy systems afforded me the chance to dive deep into the contexts of climate change, the policy we need to build into all facets of society, the renewable technologies that currently work across the globe, and the research needed to bring new technology to commercial viability.

Finally, having completed my formal studies in Scotland, I returned to the states with the understanding that on the global playing field we were significantly behind in the fight for curbing our gigantic climate change impacts - it was time to get to work! My last four years I have worked for the same amazing company, Borrego Solar, designing and managing over 200+ MW of solar and energy storage projects.

Understanding the imperative tipping point our environment is currently facing, I am enthusiastically devoting my career to advancing climate policy and advocacy for conservation in an equitable and sustainable way!
