P. Eva Hardwicke

I am a recently retired researcher and educator, moving into the area of medical and scientific writing and editing. I am looking forward to this new view of science and medicine that I will be involved in. Nothing measures up to the thrill of experimental discovery, but it can be a frustratingly slow process. Also, research necessarily concentrates on a narrow area even if one has to be knowledgeable about many additional fields to advance one’s work. Now, I welcome the opportunity to help in designing, writing or editing works in a variety of fields.

My PhD is in biochemistry, with my research mainly in the field of molecular biology, mostly on genome organization. Like some colleagues, I have involved many students in my research, both for help with the experiments, and to enrich their education. I also have a lot of formal classroom-teaching experience. This has included general chemistry classes for freshman or sophomores, introductory organic- and biochemistry for healthcare professionals, and biochemistry for premedical students. I also took part in tutoring medical students. With this teaching experience I would be ready to help organize educational activities.

Like many scientist- educators, I spent a lot of time on writing papers for scientific journals and grant proposals. I have carried out some reviewing work for BioMed Central and Elsevier; this also included quite a bit of language editing. I have also reviewed Federal grant applications.
