I have always liked to think about myself as my own person; I like to be different from everyone in the room in some way. However, this is hard to do when there are basically two of you. You see, I have a twin sister and, no, we are not identical, but it still poses as difficult for people to separate us from one another. It has always been Elise and Ansley or Ansley and Elise, never really one or the other. Because of this, it has been difficult to make my own identity for myself apart from my twin’s, even though we are genuine opposites of each other. Although I do become frustrated when people group us together, throughout my life I have learned a valuable lesson through sharing virtually every experience with my sister. I have learned that, while I want to be considered different from her and the rest of the world, there is something valuable in cherishing the traits she possesses that I do not. From her, I have learned how to be more organized than my naturally messy self and to be smart with my time, money, and possessions. I have learned to be driven and serious at times, when often I take things light-heartedly. Overall, while I strive to be unique from my family and the rest of the people I know, I have been shown through having a twin that it is important to learn things from others and see the things that they have to offer the world as well.
