Ekelle is a multi-genre artist and song writer from Toronto, ON. Ekelle rhymes about class, money, life in the Tdot, women's issues and other areas that have affected her life to create a style that she calls Hood Pop - Popular music with a street edge. She puts her songs together with the best beats she can find and thought provoking lyrics that can turn up any party!
Ekelle first knew she wanted in to the industry when she was a little girl who could not be torn away from watching "Hit List" on YTV every Saturday.
She has been through many things since then and has decided to put the experiences of growing up in a single parent home, struggling with becoming independent at 16 and the ups and downs of life into great music. Ekelle also finds inspiration from digging into her Caribbean-Canadian roots.
Recently, Ekelle was a featured artist in the 6ix Female Cypher put on by Maizy F and Hott TV. So far she has performed at venues in the city of Toronto such as the Smiling Buddha, Coalition Lounge, Harlem Underground and Cadillac Lounge to name a few. in 2016 Ekelle had sets at the Durham Caribbean Festival and Afrofest, one of her videos was nominated for a Cut Hip Hop Award. Ekelle's music has played on Carib 101 radio, Maximum FM, and 89.5's Bring Your Eh Game.
Currently she is working on releasing her debut album 'Dark Skin and Tattoos' for Spring 2018!
