Highly motivated, Elaine is comfortable working independently and leading initiatives, and also very much enjoys working as part of a team, and managing collaborative relationships. With over fifteen years experience in the research, implementation and communication of integrated conservation and sustainable rural livelihood initiatives, she has a particular interest in Community Forestry and Gender Mainstreaming within Poverty Alleviation and NRM. More recent experience has included working within a wider Ecosystem Management Approach: evaluating the impact of climate change on natural and agricultural systems and human health. Current work is focussed towards identifying opportunities for sustainable energy solutions for health care provision in resource constrained settings.

With extensive project design, management, writing and communications experience, she is a proven project, people and financial manager. Elaine works in English, Spanish and French, and has key experience in proposal development, monitoring and evaluation; capacity building and training; participatory research, resource use, and inventory methods; and socio-economic and market chain analysis. Elaine has published extensively across these technical areas.

Elaine has worked for various UN agencies and NGOs, including UNEP, FAO, and WHO; The Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR); WWF, Practical Action, and TRAFFIC International; and collaborated with local and International Research and Development Organsations and Academic Institutions, including The University of Edinburgh, Overseas Development Institute, and UNAM Mexico.
