I'm a physician and journalist who likes to cross boundaries. A while back, I practiced oncology and cared for patients with rare blood diseases. Oh, and I ran an NIH-funded cancer immunology lab. That was when my sons were young, and before my cancer diagnosis. Now I write about medicine and advocate for all patients' rights to information, respect and quality health care.
