ELDEN RAMIREZ
President in Lake Union
Elden Ramirez serves as President of the Lake Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, providing leadership for a multifaceted nonprofit organization serving the church across the Great Lakes region. He chairs and serves on numerous church, educational, and healthcare boards and committees, providing leadership in organizational development, strategic planning, governance, mission advancement, and executive collaboration with denominational, educational, and healthcare institutions.
Prior to serving as president, Ramirez served as Executive Secretary of the Lake Union Conference. Before joining the Lake Union, he served as Undersecretary of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. Earlier, he served as President of the Montana Conference. Before his service in Montana, Ramirez served as Director of the Office of Volunteer Ministries at the North American Division, where he provided leadership for volunteer and mission initiatives throughout North America and around the world, including short term mission programs, student missionary service, mentoring initiatives, and community outreach ministries.
Throughout nearly three decades of ministry and leadership, Ramirez has served across six states in a wide variety of pastoral, educational, administrative, and departmental roles. His experience includes service as a youth pastor, academy chaplain, church planter, senior pastor, executive camp director, and departmental director with responsibilities in Youth Ministries, Family Ministries, Health and Temperance Ministries, and the National Servicemen's Organization.
Before entering pastoral ministry, Ramirez worked with the Criminal Justice Department of the City and County of San Francisco, where he participated in youth leadership and violence prevention initiatives focused on addressing the challenges facing children, adolescents, and young adults. He also served with the Real Alternatives Program (RAP), a multiservice initiative serving at risk youth in San Francisco's Mission District through counseling, mentoring, educational support, recreation programs, and community outreach.
It was during this season of public service that a defining experience shaped the direction of his life. After helping a close friend find peace in Christ following the tragic murder of his cousin, Ramirez became convinced that while social programs can address immediate needs, only the gospel can transform the human heart. That conviction ultimately led him to answer God's call to pastoral ministry.
Ramirez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and later completed a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry. He is completing a Master of Divinity degree. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, he is passionate about leadership development, discipleship, evangelism, mentorship, and helping organizations remain focused on their mission.
Elden and his wife, Jenny, a registered nurse with a passion for serving both the physical and spiritual needs of others, have been blessed with two daughters, Elennie and Jasmine. As a family, they share a deep commitment to faith, service, and Christian ministry.
Among the biblical promises that have most influenced his life and ministry is Joshua 1:5: “Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” This assurance of God's presence continues to guide his leadership, ministry, and personal walk with Christ.
