Anisha Ismail Patel
Candidate for District 25 School Board in Arlington Heights, Illinois
As Maya Angelou said, “When you learn, teach; when you get, give.” This sums up why I am running for District 25 Board of Education. My husband and I are blessed to live and work in this vibrant community with our four young children. As a passionate educator for the last 24 years, I believe that serving on the school board is the best way for me to contribute.
During the span of my career, I have been devoted to the field of education as a teacher, administrator, adjunct professor and consultant. Having previously worked for District 25, I have seen first hand what an innovative school system we have, led by an excellent staff. I had a great experience working as a Curriculum Coordinator in the Department of Student Learning. I also served as Assistant Principal of Ivy Hill School. I truly believe in our district, and want to do my part to ensure that we keep pushing the envelope to achieve an outstanding world class education for all our students.
As a parent, I am deeply invested in the success of District 25. I empathize with other parents, who want the best for their children too. Schools have a mission to meet the needs of every child, and as a mother and educator I hope to support our district to realize this vision.
For the sake of every student, parent and community member in Arlington Heights, It is critical that the school board maintains a model of collegiality and collaboration that builds confidence across the community.
District 25 is also outstanding because of its rich and growing diversity. It requires dedicated individuals that bring unique perspectives to the table to meet the demands of changing demographics, finances, curriculum and technology. With my vast experience as an educator, having had a multi-lingual upbringing growing up in Malawi, Africa, and with my extensive travel across Europe, Asia, North and South America, I bring that cutting edge global perspective to our District.
We should elect individuals with diverse perspectives, who ultimately strive to understand issues and make difficult decisions. As a board member, I first and foremost will stand by the welfare of our youth, as their holistic success is everything.
As an educator, mother, social impact entrepreneur and community organizer, I am confident that I can continue to elevate our schools and make a positive impact as member of the Arlington Heights District 25 Board of Education.
