Eleusis Ensemble
A dynamic young international trio, the Eleusis Ensemble was formed in London by Alex Roberts, Belle Chen and Danae Eleni. Consisting of clarinet, soprano voice and piano, Eleusis aims to create a chamber music medium and explore new relationships between voice and instrument.
Eleusis is dedicated to exploring unknown works and expanding the repertoire for this rich and varied tonal palette. In addition to performing newly commissioned works by both young and established composers, Eleusis will expose a wider audience to previously unrecorded and rarely performed works by inclusion in upcoming concerts and recordings. Their concerts cover the gamut of music from Baroque transcriptions, avant-garde, and semi-improvised folk music.
Established performers in their own right Alex, Belle and Danae's enthusiasm for contemporary music is contagious and their confident communication in concert makes them ambassadors for this genre.
Eleusis is not only setting out to perform new music: they are seeking to reinvent an ensemble, long consigned to the tail-end of vocal recitals. In their commissions Eleusis challenges their composers to radically rethink the relationship between voice and instrument, and in their performances, challenges their audiences to hear music differently.
