A political junkie since I was just a lowercase E, I am an international correspondent at NPR News. Seoul-based, my coverage focuses on both Koreas and Japan. Previously I covered the intersection of technology and culture. I joined NPR in 2011 to coordinate the digital launch of NPR's StateImpact network, dedicated to strengthening state government coverage in the US. Before that, I covered the races and faces of Texas politics at The Texas Tribune, a non-profit startup aimed at journalism in the public interest.

Most of my work background is in television news. I was a political reporter for KVUE-TV in Austin and WYFF-TV in South Carolina. Before that, I reviewed bars and nightclubs overseas and spent much of my 5th grade year studying in great detail the presidential primary bid of once and future California Governor Jerry Brown.
