Elissa Murphy is Vice President of Engineering for Google responsible for the GSuite's Enterprise Platform and Application Developer Platform. Elissa came to Google in 2016 from GoDaddy where she was the CTO and part of the transformative management team that stepped in to take the company public as one of the top IPOs of 2015. While at GoDaddy, she also helped change the company within less than 2 years into one of Anita Borg's Top 13 companies for Women Technologists. Before GoDaddy she was at Yahoo!, where as Vice President of Engineering she oversaw the world’s largest private Hadoop cluster, a technology essential to massive-scale computing that is literally the basis of the definition of big data today.
Prior to her time at Yahoo!, Elissa spent 13 years at Microsoft in various engineering positions including High Performance Computing. She began her technology career designing and building many of the best-selling computer security and system utilities with 5th Generation Systems, Quarterdeck and the Norton Group, a division at Symantec responsible for Norton Antivirus and other Norton products.
Elissa currently has over 29 patents issued and more than 10 patents pending in the areas of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, machine learning, and security. She is on the Inphi Systems Board, CalPoly’s Computer Science Industry Advisory Board, and the BlogHer Advisory Board. Elissa has been recognized by Fortune as a Fortune Next Generation Most Powerful Woman for three years in a row, and was selected as one of TechFlash's “Top Notable Women” in Seattle.
