Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Liz is a performer, composer, and educator residing in Long Beach, California.
Having a classical-heavy background in violin performance, Liz loves exploring the non-classical realm of music. She has played in jazz combos and is also a member of the 12-piece indie band Leather Tramp. In addition to premiering new works for fellow composers, Liz gigs locally outside in small chamber ensembles/pits and does studio work.
Liz enjoys many aspects of composing and has expanded her knowledge of music through film scoring, orchestration, arranging, and sound design. She has had her works performed by notable ensembles such as the Grammy-nominated Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, Friction Quartet, Ensemble FRET, VEDA Quartet and the Southern California Brass Consortium. She especially enjoys collaborating with other types of artists, performing and/or composing for dance and multimedia works.
In addition to writing and performing, Liz has a passion for working with kids. She has coached strings at the Kadima Conservatory's Summer Music Seminar and at Maple Village Waldorf School. Over the summer, Liz coaches kids in singing at Monarch Camps, where she co-founded its ever-growing Glee Camp. She currently teaches music to the first grade class at Webster Elementary School.
Liz will be finishing up her BM in Music Composition in Spring 2016 at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSULB, where she works as a student audio technician at the Gerald R. Daniel Recital Hall and tutors in music theory. In 2014, she was inducted into the national music honor society, Pi Kappa Lambda, and was awarded the Donald Andrus Prize in Electronic Music. She is the 2015-2016 recipient of the Paul Lindsey Endowed Scholarship. Aside from music, Liz enjoys being in nature, vegan cooking and baking, kittens, books, tea, and boba.
