Elizabeth Funk is the founder and CEO of Dignity Capital, a social impact fund that provides capital for micro finance projects around the globe in order to help impoverished entrepreneurs start their own businesses and lift themselves out of poverty.
Before starting her own investment fund, Elizabeth Funk worked as a Senior Director at Yahoo! Where she spearheaded Yahoo! Shopping, a platform that helps generate much of the company’s revenue. She has also served as a project manager on a team for Microsoft Word and was an original founding member of Microsoft Office.
Elizabeth Funk has most recently started laying the groundwork for a new social impact fund in Brazil. This for-profit venture capital-style impact investment will allow companies to make an impact on poverty alleviation, environmental issues, education, and safe, clean low-income housing.
Elizabeth has been profiled in Forbes, theSan Jose Mercury News, the Vancouver Sun, and Business Week. She has also been awarded a Leading Entrepreneur by the prestigious technology entrepreneur association TiE. In 2010 she was named “Businesswoman of the Year” by Veuve Clicquot and was featured in two case studies through Harvard Business School.
Currently, Elizabeth Funk resides in the San Francisco Bay Area and is a member of the Battery Club of San Francisco and Battery Powered, a group of members that collaborate on specific projects with important impact on the world.
