Elizabeth Proctor

Elizabeth Proctor

Good day. My name is Elizabeth Proctor, and I am from Lynn, Massachusetts, but I moved to Salem when I married my husband, John, in 1674. I have three boys, and I was a widow until recently. My deceased husband, John, was hung by the Court for unjustifiable reasons. My new husband, Daniel Richards, is a sweetheart! He takes care of our family.

Many people mistake me for a doctor, but I just have experience in handling the sick because my grandmother was a midwife and she taught me many things. I was charged against being a witch for it in 1669.

If I may say so myself, I am a steadfast wife and a true Christian woman. I do get jealous very easily, but I feel as though I have good reason to, ever since John had an affair with our ex-servant, Abigail Williams. It has always been a struggle to let go of the past for me. I like to revisit memory lane, and I do so very often, ever since John died. One of the biggest turnaround moments in my life was when I realized that my bitter attitude could have led John to his affair with Abigail. I know that I am not the most congenial person, but I do have good intentions. Perhaps I am just a little bit boring and prude.

My favorite food is fresh fish, with a slice of lemon on the side. As for drinks, I have never had a sip of alcohol in my life; I prefer tea. My favorite color is a very light, serene blue. My favorite thing to do is sew by the fireplace, or read to my sons. If I weren't a housewife, I think that I would most likely become a teacher.
