Elizabeth McGovern
My name is Elizabeth McGovern. I'm nineteen years old and going into my sophomore year at Albright College in Reading, PA. I am currently a lifeguard and swim instructor at The Connection in Summit. I love teaching swim lessons to all ages.
I have taught children at all levels of swim, including beginners working with them on comfort in the water and motor skills. I teach preschoolers all the way up to middle school. With a swim team background of over 10 years, I'm more than happy to work with your child on stroke technique and preparing them for their first swim meet.
I am WSI certified. To obtain my American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification I completed a 30 hour long course on learning how to teach others to be safe in the water besides teaching the main 4 strokes (freestyle, backstroke, break stroke, and butterfly). Here is a little more informaton on what a WSI is.
My number one priority is the safety of your child. I will be teaching them lifesaving techniques such as floating on the back and treading water in addition to the competition strokes.
Swimming has always been part of my life. I swam competitively for 12 years and came to realize that my true passion was in teaching and coaching swimmers. I left competitive swimming and began to teach after my junior year in high school. I have worked with children individually and in small groups. My students have included competitive swimmers looking to shave time off their flip turn and children with special needs who don’t know to be cautious around water.
