Elizabeth Coggins

I'm an associate professor of political science at Colorado College, where I study U.S. politics, public opinion, and ideological identification, and I currently chair the Department of Political Science. I earned my Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013 and held a post-doctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis before joining Colorado College in 2014. My work centers on political behavior in the longitudinal sense: how opinion forms and shifts over time. I co-authored The Dynamics of Public Opinion (Cambridge University Press, 2021), a theory of how public opinion moves in the United States.
