A majority of my life I had planned out. Since the age of four, I had ballet slippers on my feet, and my hair was in a bun. When I was in eighth grade, I switched to a hybrid homeschool that was directed to people with a passion. Mine was dance, while my other friends focused on horseback riding, swimming, and much more.
When I switched schools, I found myself in the dance studio more than at my school desk. For many years I enjoyed perfecting my skills and mobility. My senior year I had plans to audition for the dance team at my dream school, The University of Georgia.
Almost all of my senior year I spent training for the big audition, but as March approached the Corona Virus pandemic hit, and everyone was placed in isolation. The dance studios were closed, and my audition for the team was postponed. This was when I found that dance might not be my only passion or craft that I am good at. With the extra time I found myself with, I began my online thrift shop called Buy.Eizabeth. As Buy. Elizabeth grew, my love for dance changed.
In mid-May I opened an email informing potential Dance Dawgs that the audition had been officially set for the end of July. I remember sitting in my best friend’s car and questioning my feelings about the audition. I went home to my family that night and explained my dilemma. My parents explained to me that dance doesn’t have to me my passion forever, and they will support me in any challenge that I set my mind on. So here I am six month later with a large online presence from my thrift shop and a peaceful mindset that things don’t always go as planned.
