I love information. I love looking for it, organizing it, and sharing it with those who either need it or who just might find it interesting. I love this so much, in fact, that after I working at a management consulting firm doing all three of these things for almost 8 years, I went to library school and formalized what I had learned professionally and then learned some more (and had some pretty wonderful experiences along the way, including one unforgettable summer at the Smithsonian Institution). I’ve helped consultants find white papers on Mergers and Acquisitions (what is a “shotgun” merger anyway?) and scholars locate the collection that just might house a letter or diary or photograph that no one knew existed. I love that information is egalitarian. Private, public, or academic – it’s waiting to be found and put to good use.
