Elke Von Freudenberg

German-born, L.A.-raised Elke Von Freudenberg's loftlike, by-appointment-only salon, nine stories above bustling Broadway, is a white-walled, hardwood-floored refuge for expert brow-shaping, painless hair removal, facials, and waxing. Upon landing in one of the four stations' reclining chairs, women and men can turn their hair-related concerns over to the beauty industry vet and her staff.

A life-long lover of all things beauty, Elke's lustrious career began in 1982; with an esthetician's license and high school diploma received in the same month, she made her way through college working as a facialist and eventually as a waxing specialist. As her career evolved, Elke began working as a photography makeup artist, as well as a top Education Specialist for Aveda for 8 years. Today, Elke is helming an impressive career as a renowned expert and eyebrow specialist working in New York City.

Elke, also a longtime editorial, commercial, and Oscar makeup artist, specializes in creating non-stencilled, balanced, and full eyebrows that flatter the face, while fixing bad, paint-by-number brow shapes. Clients can choose from tweezers, wax, or a combination of both (though Elke prefers to only work with tweezers and small scissors). Elke is renowned for The Model Brow® service, a skill honed through years of brow shaping experience. Elke specializes in fixing and reshaping brows by customizing and enhancing the shape of her client's brows without the use of stencils.

Elke's makeup work has appeared at The Academy Awards® and The Golden Globes, in magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Elle, People, In Touch, and Lucky, and on the runway collections of Ralph Lauren, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Dolce & Gabana. Her celebrity clientele includes Angelica Huston, Kate Moss, Blythe Danner, Jamie Fox, and Alexandra Paul.

Other treatments offered at the salon, which opened in 2010, include makeup application (including bridal), aromatherapy facials, lash perms, and a hydrating, eye-area-brightening eye contour treatment.

Elke's own Model Brow collection of shadows, pencils and Vitamin-E-laden brow scrub (an all-natural, certified vegan sugar exfoliator with coconut oil and rosemary that encourages growth), is also available.
