Elle Mitchell
My name is Elle and If you've come to this page it means you think I'm at least mildly interesting - thanks!
I began my journey into veganism many years ago, when I first found the PETA information videos. I was shocked and saddened by what happened in the dairy, meat and egg industries. I wanted so badly to eliminate all animal derived ingredients from my diet but after a year of trying to do it under my parents' roof I failed miserably. I was sick from the trash I was eating, and had both parents in my ear telling me how those attrocities I saw didn't happen here, that PETA was an elitist sham and that eating meat was the only way to regain health.
I wish I had of done more research and that the communities I am a part of now were around back then because the guilt I feel of knowing the truth and continuing to support these industries is not a very nice feeling.
Currently I have been on the cruelty free path for a year in December, having started out vegetarian and then transitioning across to totally vegan. I was told it's an unattainable lifestyle - that I wouldn't be able to eat anything and that good nutrition was impossible when eating entirely plant based. I thought veganism would be too hard, but now I'm here to show you none of that is true! If you eat consciously, cook creatively and do your research this lifestyle is more hassle free than anything else I have ever done.
