Hi!
My name is Elle and I have recently finished studying a Bachelor of Education, Primary. I have been working at a local primary school for the last 3 and a half years as an Integration Aide, supporting children with various learning needs, such as autism and intellectual and behavioural disabilities.
I have had experience with children of all ages from prep (5 years) to year 6 (12 years) as well as children who are yet to start school. I am working with a 5 year old autistic boy between 2 and 8 hours a week as a therapy assistant, helping him with his learning and impending transition to primary school.
I have decided not to go into the classroom as a teacher, rather support children with special needs on a one to one basis. I also have a passion for animals and spend an hour every Friday at a hospital with my dog Fletcher, who is a therapy dog.
There is evidence to suggest dog therapy used in conjunction with children with special needs can aide in reducing anxiety and fear, increasing confidence and attention span due to their social and affectionate nature. Should this be something you think your child may benefit from do not hesitate to ask.
I pride myself on being a mature, reliable, nurturing and caring person who is willing to do that bit extra to establish a relationship with not only the child/children but their family.
My services work well for those who have accessed NDIS funding.
