Ellen Chapelle

Originally from the beautiful state of Michigan, Ellen started dancing at the prime age of three. Primarily Cecchetti trained, growing up, she danced competitively with a company proficient in ballet, modern, and jazz. Her passion for dance carried her to The Ailey School in NYC, where she trained intensely for three years and started her career as a dancer. While dancing in New York, she performed with many companies and in famous NYC venues such as Joe’s Pub, Joyce Soho and SOB’s. Ellen Chapelle recently relocated to Los Angeles, after living in New York City for fifteen years.

While performing and teaching, Ellen eventually became co-owner and director of the highly acclaimed The Bridge for Dance, a studio on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. There she directed and taught in The Young Dancer’s Program, attracting over two hundred students and classes for all ages. She directed and choreographed for The Bridge for Dance Company, a chosen group of forty, passionate, students.

In 2014, Ellen was humbled to be invited into the International Dance Council, CID; an organization recognized by UNESCO and affiliated with the United Nations.

Ellen’s recent film choreograph is a piece in “Pauline Alone”, a short film by Sundance winning writer/director, Janicza Bravo, that stars Megan Mullally, Gaby Hoffman and Brett Gelman. She is the lead/solo, silent actor in a 16mm BW horror film, “Untitled”. She is also seen in the music video, “Is there a Ghost”, by Band of Horses.

These days, you can see Ellen in OAR’s new music video, “Peace”, as the female lead. She choreographed the acting and dance throughout.

After a full life of owning a business and performing in NYC, Ellen is brilliantly excited to continue her career and sunnier lifestyle here in LA!
