Justine Moritz
Hello, my name is Justine Mortitz. You may know me better as the servant to the family of Victor Frankenstein and friend to his cousin Elizabeth.
I am the third of my mother’s four children; a favorite of my father. I was very young when my father died, and after that sad event I was mistreated by my mother. When I was twelve, Victor’s mother, Caroline, was very gracious and rescued me from my terrible family situation by succeeding in entreating my mother to allow me to reside with the Frankenstein family.
The family became very dear to me- and I too them. I became a very good friend of Elizabeth’s and nursed her mother when she fell ill. I found that Victor himself also found me to me a great source of encouragement and cheer.
After five years I returned to my mother who had seemed to change in her opinion of me. Well, change somewhat. While she displayed a very repentant attitude, she also took many opportunities to blame me for siblings’ deaths.
I was happy, but I could always feel a bit of guilt in my heart for not preventing my siblings deaths somehow. I suppose that’s why I subjected to the death penalty for the murder of Victor’s dear younger brother, William, although I was completely innocent. Such a sweet child; I felt so bad for him and Elizabeth, and Victor. Oh dear, sweet, Victor. He seemed so distraught at my fate; almost as if he himself had killed young William. He could never have. I accepted my fate, untimely as it may seem.
