Born in Washington DC, the second of five kids of an irrepressible West Point graduate and a classy, loving mother. Lived in Germany, KS, NY, PA, VA, NC, LA and Hawaii before going to Northfield Mt. Hermon School in MA. Attended The University of Virginia, married after my sophomore year, worked as a Gal Friday for a year in NYC and finished school at Barnard College.
Fueled by the desire to never again be a secretary, I became a banker for 5 years. Fueled by the desire to care more about my work, I became a journalist for 25 years. Inspired to create something brand new, I wrote What I Know Now (NYTimes bestseller!), If I'd Known Then and What I Know Now About Success, meeting fantastic women and uncovering their inner wisdom by collaborating on their letters to their younger selves.
Today, I bring the letters-to-my-younger-self experience to life at corporations such as Prudential, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Genentech, Citibank and others. I also conduct Work/Life Harmony programs, giving executive women the tools to feel happy in their roles at work and at home.
