Dr. Khalifa Elmusharaf

I am an accomplished public health leader with over two decades of experience in public health education, research, and policy development. Currently, I direct the Master of Public Health (MPH) programs at the University of Birmingham Dubai, where I oversee the design and implementation of innovative postgraduate programs aimed at preparing the next generation of public health professionals.

My career spans across Sudan, Geneva, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Bahrain, and Dubai, where I have developed public health programs, conducted impactful research, and collaborated with organizations such as WHO and UNDP on critical global health initiatives. My research focuses on maternal health and the economics of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with my work influencing health policies and practices worldwide.

Beyond academia, I’m committed to shaping the future of public health through strategic leadership and policy development. I have a proven track record of establishing higher education public health programs, including at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in Bahrain, the University of Limerick, the University of Birmingham and advising governments and international organizations on health system improvements and investment in health.

As a mentor and educator, I prioritize fostering innovation, critical thinking, and practical learning in my students, equipping them with the skills to tackle complex global health challenges. I regularly engage in public speaking, webinars, and media interviews to raise awareness on pressing health issues, including maternal health, NCDs, and health policy reform.

With expertise in health economics, strategic project management, and higher education, I continue to collaborate with stakeholders across the globe to improve health outcomes and build sustainable health systems.
