Hello! I am a student at the University of Delaware majoring in Apparel Design. I am a junior student right now. I come from Shanghai, China. Regarding my major, I didn't want to be in apparel design before I came to states, however, I fell in love with my major after freshmen year not only because I learned that fashion is a living art and help shape people’s lives every day, but also because I was inspired by the movie ‘The Devil wears Prada’. This movie made me feel so happy I continued in this major, and fashion industry is such a fast-paced but super exciting area to work!
I look at myself as a ‘Dreamer’ and a ‘Goal achiever’.
I am a dreamer because I always imagine myself in different jobs and roles I could possibly reach. That's one of reasons that I took initiative to become a resident assistant, despite that this occupation is not related to fashion at all. However, I can see myself to be a helpful and outgoing guide and mentor to freshmen. Even though there were many challenges for me to be an RA, such as a language barrier and cultural difference, once I set up a goal for myself, I am determined to exert as much effort as possible and commit my time to make it happen. That's why I think I am also a ‘Goal achiever’. Now that I have been a RA for two years, I put heart into my work and tried my best to know and help each of my residents. Through the RA job, I also gained strong organization skills and outstanding leadership. I have grown in my experience in communication and problem-solving skills. Right now my dream is to focus more on Fashion.
Now my dream is try to work in a fashion magazine, or to be a stylist or a trend forecaster. I dare to dream and am willing to achieve them!
Have a nice day!
