So shortly after graduating high school, and dropping out of college - TWICE - I married a Navy man (Seabee/Steelworker) with romantic dreams of "seeing the world"! Instead, we lived in Norfolk, Virginia - TWICE. In between we moved back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where I was raised and where we met.
Retirement from the Navy came in 2007 and we quickly had to decide where we were going to settle. Virginia was beautiful and we had made many good friends there, but the cost of living was too high without both of us working high-paying jobs. Hurricane Katrina had destroyed so much of the coast and we really didn't want to live in a hurricane zone any longer. So we turned our eyes towards TEXAS!
My husband is a Native Texan, as is my father and both of my sisters. I would have been born here, too, except that like my husband, my father was a carrier Navy man (Seabee/Steelworker). Most of my husband's family all still lives down around the San Angelo area, but we didn't want to be quite that far south. By now, two-thirds of my family were living up in Enid, OK. My parents left their home of 30+ years shortly after Katrina, and moved up there to be near my oldest sister and her family. So we looked to buy a place "in the country" somewhere in North Central Texas... that's how we found this little old farmhouse on the Internet and came to live here at Dancing Moon Farmstead.
