Emílio Patchenko
Lisbon, Portugal.
More than 25 years working in I.T., Tibetan by birth , Lisbon-resident by a quirk of fate. Dilettante, unrepentant sci-fi geek, rational atheist, (very) amateur musician and all-round smartarse.
I consistently test as Meyers Briggs type ENTP, if you go in for that sort of thing. (I'm not sure I do)
I am currently working as a Senior Managing Director @TechX General and head of Mobile Business
Developed websites in ASP.Net and C# with Microsoft SQL Databases but, over the years, I have been employed in pretty much every role in IT, from Operator to Technical Analyst to Operations Manager.
OK, that is the important stuff out of the way. If you aren't bored enough already, here's the rest...
In my spare time I have a number of monomanias:
I play guitar - in my garage for my own entertainment. Mostly (but not exclusively) stuff by bands like The Ramones, The Clash, AC/DC, The Cramps, Jesus and Mary Chain.
Reading - Mainly 'hard' Science Fiction but I am a massive fan of J.R.R. Tolkien (hey, I work in I.T., what did you expect?) and have been since about 1977. I'm also quite keen on historical fiction if it is set sometime before 1000ad, I don't find more recent historical eras particularly interesting.
I love watching films. Science-Fiction or action/adventure preferably - I am a particular fan of the Marvel Studios' output.
I also read quite a few comics - my favourite being 2000a.d.'s Judge Dredd. Batman is another favourite.
I love walking/hiking and am lucky enough to be able to walk out of my front door and be in open countryside within 2 minutes.
I am interested in Science (especially Physics and Astronomy) and try to keep up with the latest developments.
Politically I am fairly left-wing. I believe in social justice and am firmly of the opinion that unfettered, uncontrolled capitalism is not compatible with the greater good of the greater number.
I am an ardent hellenophile - I love Greece, Greek Culture, music and language and the Greek people And Greek food!
Cheers
