Emily Banke
Denver, Colorado
I was born in a log cabin and grew up in a small mountain town in Oregon. I spent the majority of my childhood running around the woods, putting on plays in our backyard, and crafting with my mom and sister. I moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder, where I majored in Anthropology. After graduating college I joined Teach For America and taught Special Education at Columbine Elementary School in Denver. After my two year commitment I decided that I wanted to continue my passion for social justice and joined Teach For America - Colorado staff as the Coordinator of Alumni Affairs. In my free time you can find me at a yoga or dance class, riding my bike around Sloans Lake, or walking my dog. I also love traveling, decorating my house, enjoying a cup of chai at a local Highlands coffee shop, cooking a new vegetarian recipe, or attempting a DIY project on Pinterest.
