Emily Bingham
Salt Lake City Utah
Emily Bingham was born in Ogden, Utah. Although she was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, her Utah roots ran deep. She attended Utah State University where she majored in theatre arts & liberal studies. While at USU, she co-chaired the College Democrats, and was the student campaign manager for the successful Frank Prante for Legislature campaign in 1988.
In 1989 Emily moved back to the Bay Area, where she began working in the high-tech industry, first as a technical support consultant and then as a stand-up trainer and marketing presenter. Her love of technology and the arts soon merged when her job responsibilities transitioned to web site design and internet marketing.
At the same time she continued to work in her family's art gallery and helped them to establish the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts, a nonprofit organization that oversees the Maynard Dixon Summer Home and Studio in Mt. Carmel, Utah. In 1999, Emily relocated with her family to Cedar City, Utah. Emily set up shop as an independent web site designer, and was named Vice President of the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts. Every summer she oversees a major art show, featuring some of America's most prominent artists.
In 2006 Emily was the Democratic candidate for Senate District 28. Shortly thereafter, she was hired as the Communications Director of the Utah House Democratic Caucus. In 2008, she was campaign manager for Karen Morgan for Utah Senate, and under Emily's leadership, Karen won with 53% of the vote. In January 2012 Emily was appointed to be the Communications Director of the Utah Senate Democrats. After a brief hiatus from politics, Emily was then recruited to run the Scott Howell for US Senate campaign in 2012.
She is currently consulting Democratic campaigns in Utah in addition to working for the Thunderbird Foundation and other nonprofit organizations.
Emily has travelled the world: Canada, India, Denmark, Holland and the UK, but her most cherished time is with her family around the dinner table, discussing the day's political events. She currently resides in Salt Lake City.
