Emily Lim

Hey, I’m Emily. I’m a Communications Technology, Visual Art Teacher and Arts Department Head at an independent all girls school in Ottawa. I have been teaching for 21 years, mostly in Toronto where I taught photography, film, media arts and ceramics.

I am a photographer and I got my tech qualifications through years of doing professional photography. I add technical elements to my courses and I am always learning new construction skills. I just finished a one year build, doing a major extension on my cottage where I added a great room, three bedrooms and a bathroom. My whole family helps out. I am a mother of three. My teenage daughter is great at tiling, and my 10 year old daughter loves putting up drywall and using the power drill.

I have a laser cutter and 3-D printers at my school, but a very limited shop. We mostly rely on Adobe Creative Cloud for the art and tech courses, but I hope to add construction elements after completing this course.
