I love movies. When the logo of the production company flashes across the screen, and the first notes of the opening song start, I feel like I’ve come home. For two hours or so, I get to live another life, and after the movie ends all I want to do is think about it and talk about it. Hence, this blog.
You would be hard-pressed to find a movie I don’t like. Some I love, some I only like okay, but very few do I actually despise. I think this is because I am pre-disposed to like movies. Even if the movie is awful, I can find something to enjoy about it. Otherwise, I have to accept that I’ve just wasted two hours of my life, and that’s just sad.
Most movie reviews seem to be pedantic, negative things that give more of an insight into how smart the writer is than into how the movie made them feel. Because I love movies so much, I am creating a space where I can openly discuss the movies I’ve seen, while still reviewing them for quality and rewatchability (my personal standard of excellence.) Visit the Recent page for reviews of newly released movies, or check out the Rewind page to see reviews of older movies.
