Emily Vanek

I am a veteran journalism educator with over 15 years of experience in public and private schools. I've also worked as a small-school district communications director.

I discovered my passion for school communications while working in Sunnyvale, Texas. In small school districts, we all wear many hats. I'm no different. At SISD, I've managed public relations, was the webmaster and juggled the high school journalism program. The best part of my job is helping our community get the information they need in a timely, accurate and easy-to-understand fashion.

Helping parent groups and other stakeholders reach their needs is important to me. By finding common purposes and shared interests, community members and groups can be successful partners for students' futures.
