Emily Yates

Development is at the heart of who I am and why I am in higher education. I can see the potential and incremental improvement in others. I facilitate experiences and advising that will help students stretch and grow. My greatest satisfaction comes from the development of these steps and leaps of change, and celebrating realized potential.

I am highly skilled in intercultural communication, inclusivity, thinking outside the box, and strategic planning. My professional interests include advising, international education, orientation & first-year programs, graduate student services, and leadership development.

I like to spend my downtime outside, as an avid hiker, camper, and kayaker. I have completed multiple half marathons, but only in odd-numbered years. I also enjoy traveling, and have been to more than 20 countries, including Egypt, Cambodia, and Indonesia. The photo here is from my trip to Budapest, Hungary in 2012.
